Our Story

The Story Behind Unicorn Smokes

Before Unicorn Smokes, there was a cigar shop floor in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Alexander Martinez managed Mane Street Cigars there and grew it into a destination worth the trip, guiding first-time smokers and keeping seasoned collectors coming back in equal measure. That’s the eye Unicorn Smokes was built around, not a warehouse buyer’s instinct, a shop floor’s.

Alexander holds Certified Cigar Sommelier Tobacconist, Certified Retail Tobacconist, and Certified Salesforce Tobacconist credentials through Tobacconist University, the same standard the industry holds its own experts to. That background shapes how Unicorn Smokes chooses what to carry, not by what’s available, but by what earns a place.

Credentialed, not self-declared. Certified Cigar Sommelier Tobacconist, Certified Retail Tobacconist, Certified Salesforce Tobacconist.

Why the Collection Looks the Way It Does

Why the Collection Looks the Way It Does

A collector-first eye means saying no to almost everything, so what remains actually deserves your attention. The same standard runs through the Mobile Lounge Experience, a sister venture bringing the same curation and hosting to private events across Florida, and through Unicorn Smokes’ ties to Exile Cigars, a related brand under the same founding hands.

What This Means for What You’re Buying

A curator with a shop-floor background and formal tobacconist credentials makes different choices than a warehouse buyer working off a distributor’s overstock sheet. Every release in the collection gets chosen, sourced, and verified with that same eye.
