Authorized sourcing means buying directly from the brand or its named distributor, the same chain of custody a legitimate retailer can actually document. A secondary market reseller cannot offer that, whatever their story is about where a box came from. They usually cannot say how it was stored, how long it sat before it reached them, or whether it is genuinely what the band claims at all.
This is the reason two boxes with identical bands can be worth entirely different amounts of trust. One came through a documented chain from maker to distributor to retailer. The other came from somewhere its seller would rather not specify in detail.
We do not treat this as a marketing angle. It is the baseline requirement for a box to be listed here at all, and it is why we are direct about it when asked, release by release, rather than leaving it as a vague claim on an About page.
